March 2014 INVSOC Potluck

Our March 2014 Invercargill Vegan Society potluck was a great success!  In honour of Pi Day, we had Lemon, Apple and Cappuccino Mousse Pie (caffeine free!) :-)  Thank you to Kerri for the idea :-)

Indian Seasoned Potatoes, Wraps, Samosa, Garden Salad, Lentil Cottage Pie, Pumpkin Soup…..

Jordan, Jenny, Katharine, Kerri, Steve, Jess, Steph attended, along with first time guests Yolanda Soryl of the Christchurch Vegetarian Centre, Ruby, Kathryn and Chathuran (Chatty) :-)

Invercargill Vegan Society Medical Ward member Dan couldn’t stay, she had a shift at Southland Hospital.  She dropped off a cake for us all to share though :-)  Check out INVSOC DOVECOTE in the background.  The homing net is in place as the neglected doves settle into a safe Vegan forever home :-)

Isn’t Dan’s cake fabulous?  Caramel and chocolate.

Yolanda holding a copy of “Icing on the Quake”, how the Christchurch Vegetarian Centre rebuilt after the Canterbury Earthquakes.  CVC member Anna van den Bosch joined us for an INVSOC potluck back in 2012, signing our copies of the cookbook :-)

Finally, Jordan and Jen visited Auckland Vegans recently to see Dr Will Tuttle talk.  We joined the inaugural meeting of the Chicken Appreciators Group, held at Kath and Bill’s animal sanctuary north of Auckland.  Here we are in alliance with the incomparable Susan and vegan artist Romina, holding Pip the rooster :-)

Romina has published several board games, creates ceramic art AND has a picture book about respecting animals!  Check out the green badge in her author profile picture :-)

Romina made a lovely “Cappuccino Mousse Pie” for the Chicken Appreciators Group potluck.

We brought the recipe 1000km south, to eat in our friends honour.  We hope we’ve done Romina proud with our caffeine free version :-)
